My tagline “Your Story by Design” came about from my passion to create spaces inspired by each client’s story… how they work, play and what makes them happy. During the life of a project, my job is to find out as much as possible about my clients, and that is not possible without opening myself to them as well. Without even realizing, our relationship blossoms in friendship by the end of a project.
Creating timeless spaces with sometimes playful elements is my passion. Each space I design has something unexpected either in size, colour or placement. Beauty and elegance is present in the rooms and homes designed by me, yet practicality is the layer behind all this, a layer you don’t see, but always feel. The goal is for my clients to feel at home and be happier when I finish. Only then, my job is done!
History of my business. What brought me into this line of work?
In 2013, I earned my diploma in Interior Design but my love for creating beautiful spaces started much earlier, while re-designing our own homes and helping friends and family. I am trained with internationally acclaimed colour expert Maria Killam, earning the True Colour Expert™ (https://mariakillam.com/) designation. As an expert in colour, with thousands of hours of experience, my colour consultations evolve into making sure the entire space coordinates. In a well designed home the wall colours have to coordinate with well placed art, lighting, furniture and accessories. Drawing on my extensive experience as a Professional Engineer, I am creating ingenious solutions to design challenges.
My biggest inspiration?
My inspiration comes from anything beautiful: nature, architecture, good interior design and beautiful clothes bring me happiness and inspire me instantly. Spending my childhood years and youth in Europe, I was exposed to beautiful architecture, culture, art and music, and all that is still part of my being, my thinking, my feelings.
A funny story about my business and how I keep my work day fun:
Creating nurturing relationships fills my soul and makes my day fun. This is at the core of my business. When my clients and I finish each other’s sentences and laugh when we send each other almost instantaneously the same inspiration picture, I know that my day is a perfect one, and the project will be successful. And somehow to this time, all my projects ended up creating friendships.
Advice for everyone intimidated by trends:
They are changing for good reasons. If used properly, they help keep our homes current. On a canvas of classical and timeless fixed elements, we bring in the trends we love through colour, texture and layers.
